1. Launch of a Regional Training Centre of Excellence on Youth Crime Prevention in KwaZulu-Natal

2. Launch of the First International Cities Awards for Youth Crime Prevention

3. A Youth Protocol on Crime and Violence Prevention towards the Fourth Session of the World Urban Forum in Nanjing, China, 2008 and other relevant UN forums for updating, and possibly reframing the partnership around children, adolescents, youth and urban safety. (The protocol will set a common programme framework among key UN agencies working in the area of urban crime and violence prevention and include priority actions and key issues for UN-led research and policy dialogue)

4. A selection of up to 50 promising youth-led initiatives to be presented at the World Urban Forum and to be analysed by experts in view of extracting lessons learned

5. A youth-friendly interactive website containing the above-mentioned youth-led initiatives and the analysis of lessons learned accompanied by a compilation of case studies, good practices and programme evaluations on youth crime prevention

6. A youth-led small grants fund project document that will be presented to donors for the scaling up of youth-led community safety advocacy and action initiatives on children, adolescents and youth in slums and low-income neighbourhoods. The fund may also include provisions for horizontal transfers on a North-South and South-South basis to ensure a ‘multiplier effect’ and real implementation at grass root level of the Summit outcomes and enable the Safer Cities Programme of UN-HABITAT to focus more on the research and knowledge management dimensions of youth crime prevention

7. City-to-City networking and training programme on youth crime prevention between some participating cities at the Summit (North-South, South-South)

8. An implementation strategy of Summit recommendations including a plan for reviewing the Safer Cities regional strategies and project implementation aimed at promoting an awareness of international standards on children’s rights and influencing action for placing children and adolescents at the centre of the agenda for sustainable safety and sustainable urban development.
