YOur CITY COMPETITION RULES |
How to participate
Everyone is free to participate in the YOur City competition, and it's easy to enter. To run for one of the twenty trips to the conference in Durban, you need to produce a poem, rap lyric or opinion article.
The challenge
Produce an opinion piece (max 1500 words), a poem or a rap lyric on the theme of Youth & Safety in the city. Think of effective or innovative ways/experiences to reduce crime in your neighbourhood.
Prizes
The best 8 poems/rap lyrics and the best 8 essays, as selected by the jury, win a trip to YOur City, the inaugural Youth Crime Prevention & Cities Summit in Durban, South Africa, 17 to 21 June 2008. The cost of your flight, visa, hotel and food for the duration of the conference are all covered.
Wildcard prizes
Don't let the format limit you! If you have another way than using a poem, essay or rap lyric to illustrate your thought about safety in the city, you can still enter. Think of video, audio, photography - anything goes. We have four more Durban trips to be won in this Wildcard category.
When you want to submit something that cannot be uploaded to the site, just make a post in which you briefly explain what you are sending. The Baobabconnections postal address can be found here.

The YOurCity competition deadline has been extend by 10 days! Closing date for your entries is now the 10th of May, 2008. Entries received after that date will not be accepted!

The rules
-The competition is open to everyone. You will need to register as a Baobabconnections.org member (if you are not a member yet, click here to register)
-You can only submit one entry
-Make sure your address and home/office/mobile details in your profile are correct
-Winners will be notified by email and/or sms
-Judges decisions are final
-Baobabconnections staff and authors are not allowed to participate
