There was definately a sense of hope and common vision that was present amongst the youth at the conference but all the conference did was to highlight this already existing resilience and belief in the future and belief in possibility that ALREADY EXISTS amongst the young people of the world. This is how and why we get shit done! Because we have this inner strength and core belief in our own abilities to make change, positive change, happen. The difficult thing to swallow, especially amongst the locals, is the idea that all of the money and resources used to put this comference together could have been used for already existing projects or new projects within a local framework.
It doesnt seem fair that all of the energy and time it took to put the conference together was done only to highlight the energy and potential of the youth of the world.
I feel that we are definately trying to make the best of a bad situation, which is a lesson in itself, and that we are all being very gracious in our acceptance of yet another misuse of money and resource.
There are much cheaper and more effective ways of generating ideas. This conference WAS supposed to be about putting those ideas into action.
