Hip-Hop Association [H2A]
The mission of the Hip-Hop Association [H2A] is to utilize Hip-Hop culture as a tool to effectively encourage critical thinking, social change and unity, while empowering communities through educational and media initiatives. This is accomplished through media and education programs: Hip-Hop Odyssey [H2O] & Hip-Hop Education [H2Ed].
H2O, the media component of the Hip-Hop Association, aims to cultivate cultural sustainability and industry longevity by providing a platform for filmmakers to showcase and define the variety of images that depict Hip-Hop culture and its communities. The Hip-Hop Association has quickly become a leader in creating events that focus on the use of imagery in media to educate about Hip-Hop culture and social issues. The founders, advisory board, and staff of H2A have a collective experience within the Hip-Hop community as pioneers, filmmakers, educators, activists, writers, and executives.

Africa in the Picture
What started in 1987 as an African Cinema Retrospective has evolved into Europe’s biggest African film festival. Over the years, Africa in the Picture has created a loyal audience; one that craves other images of Africa than those we see on the evening news. In the early years the audience consisted mostly of Dutch people, and African people living in the Netherlands. This changed in 1993 when the festival welcomed a selection of films from the African Diaspora. Since then, the Afro-Caribbean audience has also found its way to the festival.
'We tend to forget that Africa, as a continent, is constantly changing. African film makers are exploring new imagery and symbols to express themselves. Their narratives do touch sensitive chords, subjects that are not always open for public debate. Africa in the Picture picks up on these vibes and changes in the world of film.' Director, Heidi Lobato
